Psalm 11

One of David’s permanent songs.

1. O Creator God, the One in whom I confide; why do you say to me, disappear as a bird among the hills?
2. Oh, those who are wrong set up a trap, they are ready and plan from obscurity how to shoot those whose life is right.
3. When correct morality is ‘done away with’ what can those who are right do?
4. From His sacred place in control the Creator God is watching everything happening on this earth.
5-6. He investigates those who agree with Him, but those who do not agree with Him. He hates those who love to be cruel and do damage, which will bring upon them snares, fire and sulphur and famine with blowing winds.
7. The Creator God loves those who agree with Him and He smiles with pleasure at them.

My son's paraphrase

I find refuge in God as my fortress. Why do you say to me ‘run like a ‘scaredy cat’, ‘fly faster than a humming bird’ to the hills and ‘play dead like a possum’?
Come on, man. ‘Don’t you know, haven’t you heard, hasn’t anyone ever told you’, The wicked! All they do is scheme. They set traps and attack those who are righteous, like hunters that lay in wait to kill.
Hey man, (Slap - on the back of the head) The Lord is in heaven and He knows what is going on. He puts everyone to the test - as one tests a weld. Those who are ‘good welds’ He shows off and He is proud of and admires: they are His trophies that He shows to everyone. Those who fail are not good for any practical use. Like a ‘bad weld’ that cracked they are discarded and will eventually be melted down at the ‘foundry’.

Psalm 9

1. A song written by David to be sung using a popular melody of that day and with instruments.
I will throw open my hands in worship to the Self-Existent One with my entire heart, the very center of me. I will enumerate and celebrate marvelous, wonderful and difficult works which the Creator God has done.
2. I will be exuberant and romp for joy while I exalt in thee. I will sing songs that celebrate your honor, authority and character - You who are Supreme.
3. When those who are hostile towards me retreat backward they will totter, waver and fall while wandering away from your face.
4. For you have made a verdict about me that was right, you remain on the seat of judgment to make right decisions.
5. You chided and reproved everyone who was not an overcomer. You have lost those who were wrong so you erased their position and took away their authority from as far back as is recorded history and onward continually.
6. Those of you who are hostile and who hate me and are my adversaries, ahead of you is parched drought and desolate completion: you have torn away places that were being guarded; their remembrance and recognition is lost with them.
7. But the Self-Existent One sits from as far back as history goes and onward for ever. He has set up His seat from which to accept final decisions.
8. He shall judge the inhabitants of this earth, to clear Himself. He is sovereign. He controls the community in even, straight ways.
9. The Self-Existent One is a safe place for those who have been crushed and injured, a refuge continuing onward for those who are in narrow, tight places, crowded by an opponent, someone against God.
10.Those who ascertain and recognize your authority and Your honor will quickly move toward you for refuge, O Self-Existent One for You have not relinquished or let go of the ones who look for You and who make you Supreme in their lives.
11. Sing praises to the One who is self-existent, who remains in the permanent capitol of the Universe. Bring to the front and make manifest among all people groups the exploits and performance of the Creator God
12. When He walked to perish while He marked those and was not oblivious to the shrieks of those who were pressed down and depressed.
13. Bend in kindness and favor me, O Self-existent One; see my depression and when I look down because of those who hate me. You are the One who raises me and gives me Your life up from dying
14. That I may enumerate, intensely recount and celebrate every hymn in the door of the builder of your government and capitol; I will spin around with intense JOY in response to Your freedom and safety.
15. Those who have not chosen to belong to You are caught in the trap they made; that which they set to trip up others has caught them.
16. The Creator God is recognized by His law which He made and keeps. Those who have violated it are entrapped by their own contradictions between what they say and what they do. (Pause to think.)
17. Those who disturb others, who violate God’s law and everyone who is oblivious of the Almighty shall shall retreat into demanding of others.
18. The destitute and those who sense their needs won’t always be forgotten, the wants of the poor and depressed shall not go on forever.
19. Arise, O Creator God. Don’t let frail, feeble humans who can die prevail because they are so stout and stubborn. Accept the decisions of everyone as You see them.
20. Frighten the world, O Creator God, in such a way that everyone will recognize and ascertain by seeing that they are mortal and can die – not in charge like You are.

Psalm 8

1. O Self-Existent One, Our Sovereign, Your authority, your honor, your character is powerful, wide and large everywhere. Even looking up I can see your grandeur.
2. The intimate relation between a nursing baby and mother illustrates how you give security to counteract those who have tried to ‘cramp’ You and stops the lies coming from those who hate you and have a grudge against You, my heavenly Father.
3. To get a better idea of who You really are I only need to look up and observe what even something so small as even Your finger can accomplish – such awesome things such as the moon and stars which you have integrated into a universe.
4. When I see how overwhelmingly ‘big’ and awesome what you have created is I begin to wonder why You even consider created human beings.
5. You made them just a little less than yourself; you gave them the power to reproduce, make families and you care for them, pay attention to them and miss being with them .
6 -8. You made the human family just slightly less than God and surrounded him with splendor and magnificence. You made him ruler over everything You created here on earth – all sources of provisions and all ecosystems.
9. O Lord, You are powerful and Your position is over all.

Psalm 12

A poem put to music, written by David.
1. Open up to me, O Self-Existent One, for kind, merciful people are scarce. Those who build up and foster trust have just about disappeared from society.
2. The rest of the people use their energies only to devastate, ruin or make useless those around them while at the same time they talk politically correct to their face.
3. The Creator God will disconnect His life power from all who speak one way and act the opposite, who brag about themselves or speak insolently and twisted.
4. This ‘disconnection’ from God’s life will also happen to those who think they can control others by their words, talk as they choose and then boast that no one else can tell them what to do.
5, The Creator God hears the devastation of those who have been browbeaten and squished. He hears the shrieking and groaning of those whose feelings have been so very deeply hurt and who have felt forced to behave like a beggar. God says, “Now I will act and deliver him from those braggers and scoffers”.
6. What God says is correct and unadulterated – like completely purified silver. O Creator God, 7. You will protect Your family from those kinds of people -
8. who are everywhere when tempestuous people are popular.

Psalm 10

1. Why do you seem so far away, Lord, when things get tough and rough?
2. People with wrong attitudes keep giving others a hard time. Let them be treated the same way they treat others.
3. ‘ Those with ‘attitudes’ show their ‘stuff’ and idolize the ones God abhores.
4. Those with that kind of attitude don’t want to change. God’s will doesn’t even cross their minds. They always choose perversions or twisted ways.
5. Your ways, God, are clear out of their sight and they even scoff at anyone who doesn’t have an attitude like theirs.
6. They have the idea: “I have everything altogether, nobody can make me change.”
7. They curse, swear, lie, oppresse others, make fun of others and put self ‘up’ as ‘the best’.
8. They murder guiltless people behind the scenes and in secret do away with others not in the ‘spotlight’.
9. Like a lion they seize the assets of those less fortunate.
10. They act like one of them, get the poor to have confidence in them and donate, thus getting their assets and ruining them.
11. They think God isn’t paying attention to what they are doing.
12. Lord, open your hand in power and don’t forget those who have been hurt.
13. Why do these people with wrong attitudes scorn God by thinking that He won’t find out what they have been doing?

Psalm 6

1. Written to be accompanied by flute and eight string lyre by David. O Self-Existent One, don’t make decisions about me or instruct me with an intent to correct me when you are in intense passion.
2. Be kind to me - I am your inferior – for I am drooping, O Self-Existent One. Cure me, for my strength trembles and shakes and I am alarmed and agitated.
3. How much longer, Lord will this continue?
4. Come back, Lord and pull me free me because you are looking down to me and paying attention to me.
5. When a person dies – no more life from You – who mentions You, or who thanks and worships You where no inquiry about You is made?
6. I am exhaustedly tired from sighing. I cried so much all night that my bed was wet from my tears.
7. I have cried so much that my eyes are failing because of trouble. My eyes have aged because of those who ‘cramped’ me.
8. Turn from me, every one of you who practice and pant after vanity and wickedness, for The Self-Existent One has intelligently heard my crying and moaning.
9. He has heard my entreaty and He will take my intercession and song.
10. Let those who hate me be pale and quickly tremble. Let them suddenly and violently be turn back and disappointed.

Psalm 5

1. To the Choir director, composed by David.
Creator God, listen carefully to what I am trying to express to You. Understand even my murmurings.
2. Perk up Your ears as I call aloud for freedom to You who reigns over all. I choose to belong to You and communicate with You.

3. You will hear me at dawn. At the break of day I set my requests before You as I lean forward and peer upward.
4. You are not pleased with those who do or declare wrong. Those who break away from You can't stand to be where You are.
5. Those who boast and showoff can't stand to be in Your presence. You hate those who exert themselves toward ‘nothingness’.
6. You will allow to wander and lose themselves who arrange untruths and falsehood . It hurts You deeply to see those who cause death to others and who delude and betray others and especially those who are already frail and feeble.
7. But as for me, I come into Your presence because You have so much kindness. In reverence I worship You, looking toward where You live.

8. Guide me right, Heavenly Father, because there are those who are hostile against me. Enable me to follow Your course of life for me and keep it before me no matter where I turn.
9. Those who are against me aren’t ‘straight’ in what they say or even think in their mind. They are intense, with a rushing desire to do ruin. What comes out of their mouths is like the stench of dead bodies in an open grave so that even though they are ‘smooth’ talking they are still making false statements.
10. Let them be guilty, O God. Let them fall by their own advise and purposes. Push them off in the abundance of their own revolt for they are bitter against Thee.
11. But let everyone who trusts You and flees to You brighten up with JOY. Let them keep shouting for JOY because You have entwined about them and fenced them in. Let those who have affection for who You really are jump for JOY!.

12. For You, Lord, the Self-Existent One, will kneel before those who have delighted in You and will encircle them with Your protection similar to a prickly thorn hedge.

Psalm 4

1. A ‘hymn, or song written by David
(Begins with a direct prayer to God)
Turn your eyes to me when I address you, God (Three in One), the source of my being right. You have given me more space when I was in a cramped situation. Give me your favor and listen intelligently to my hymn song.
(Now speaking to others)
2. All of you, how much time are you going to take trying to put me down. You seem to love things that are worthless and go looking for lies and deceptions. (Think about it)
3. But be assured that the One who is Life distinguished those who are kind as belonging to Him. He will understand when I properly address Him by His Name.
4. Have proper reverence to God and don’t miss. Talk to yourself when you are resting and just relax. (Think about it)
5. Offer what is right and hurry to the Lord
6. A lot of people say ‘show us what good God has been to us’.
(Speaking to God again)
6. Lord, You who have life in Yourself, look at us with happiness and joy.
7. You have put joy in my heart more than I feel happy at a harvest festival.
8. I relax and even go to sleep, for You, Lord, are the One who keeps me safe.

Psalm 3

1. Lord, you who have life within yourself, how many (multitudes) have ‘cramped’ me and tried to ‘take over’. There are so many that have openly said they are against me.
2. So many are saying that my case is hopeless, especially as far as God helping me.
3. But you, Lord, Who alone has life with You, are protecting me. You are developing Your character in me and you even draw me out of feeling ‘hopeless’.
4. I properly addressed God and He paid attention to me, even from heaven.
5. I slept and I wake up for the Self-Existent One takes care of me.
6. I WILL NOT BE AFRAID even if multiplied myriads of people come against me and surround me.
7. Lord, You who are life itself, have set me free. You take care of all those who hate me. It was as if You slapped them in the face and took the sharp points out of those who are violating me and disturbing me.
8. This kind of deliverance and aid is what you do, Lord. Your benediction and prosperity is upon your family.

Psalm 1

1.God speaks good of those who don’t follow the advise of the morally wrong, who don’t act like them, follow their ways, or unite with those who scoff at God’s will.
2. This kind of person desires and delights in the ‘Self-Existent One’s teaching and repeats and ponders them all the time.
3.This kind of person lives in God’s presence and is like a tree growing by continually flowing water. That constant source of life continuously reveals God in that person’s life and encourages constant growth – not wilting, fainting and falling. Whatever that person does will be pushed forward.
4. Those who choose any other than God’s will are different. They become lightweight like dust or ‘chaff’ which gets scattered and blown away.
5.Those who choose any will other than God’s will won’t rise to vindicate God when it is time for a verdict. Those who have held on to guilt can’t give accurate testimony.
6.The Self-Existent One knows the course of life and mode of action of those who choose His will but those who have chosen any other will wander, lose their way and destroy themselves.

Psalm 2

1. Why, how and when are those who are not part of God’s spiritual family so tumultuous? What is causing them to come up with such empty, worthless imaginings?
2. Those who have been given authority on earth have chosen, after consulting with their governments, to rebel against the Self-Existent One AND against the Anointed One, Messiah. They state
3. ‘Let us refuse to accept any reproofs or corrections - anything that would indicate God’s authority over us’.
4 The Self-Existent One in heaven, who still has authority over all He has created is ‘amused’ at how mixed up and unintelligible those who choose their own way have gotten
5 The time will come, however, when He will arrange events which will subdue them as they experience His ‘full power, full passion’. They will tremble, be alarmed and become greatly agitated as they realize His full strength which is like a blazing fire to them.
(God speaking)
6 I anointed, poured out as libation, my ‘king’ in a sacred place and as a conspicuous pillar
7 I will recount and celebrate that appointment, enactment, covenant.
The Self-Existent One (Father) said to me (God the Son) “You are My Son, the builder of My Family Name. The day you become a human, then I am Your Father.
8. Request of me and I will give You nations for Your inheritance. The whole earth will be taken back and placed again under Your authority and be in Your possession.
9. What does not come under your covenant control will become ‘good for nothing’ by a group of people who are strong like iron, or like a smashed up piece of pottery.
(the author speaking ‘for God’ to the inhabitants of this earth)
10 Become intelligent right away, you who are in positions of authority. Learn and take instructions you who judge and govern.
11 Choose to come under God’s authority and reverently submit to His control. Rejoice in the Lord’s love and goodness with awe.
12 Show loyalty to God the Son, who is the heir apparent to the throne of the universe, or else when He reveals His full power and you destroy yourself from being alive.
Prosperous, level, going forward is everyone who flees for protection to and confides in God the Son.
